From rock bottom confidence to successful student

At 9-years-old Elizabeth Waters, was severely challenged by Dyslexia. She hated school, which forced her to fall behind her peers. She was affected by a lack of confidence, poor social skills, poor handwriting, a low reading age as well as being a non starter at spelling. Her difficulties pushed her into the bottom sets for all subjects at school.

Elizabeth is now 15. Since completing the programme she has passed a total of fourteen GCSEs and is now studying four A-levels: Chemistry, Biology, Philosophy and English. Elizabeth said, 'I am getting on very well with my peers and other six form students.' She has high hopes that after her first year she will be rewarded with AS level English so she can also gain an AS in Critical Thinking in her second year.

Elizabeth is already planning to go onto further education after Six Form. She says 'Since joining the Six Form I have gained even more confidence; but I would have never got this fantastic chance if it had not been for Dore.' Elizabeth’s mum added: 'self esteem is no longer a problem, she now reads for pleasure and is able to keep up with others in her class.'
